Set up your back seat extender
No tools needed. Setup takes a few minutes, and the tips below help it sit right the first time.
Before you start
- Take out any child seats, and clear the back seat and footwells.
- Check for seat-mounted side airbags (see below). If you have them, stop here and email us.
- Slide the front seats into your normal driving position.
Install
- Loop the straps around the front and rear headrests (tuck any anchor straps into the seat crease).
- Lay the platform flat over the footwell, with the front edge resting against the front seat backs.
- Buckle and tighten until it's level.
For travel, clip your dog's harness, never a collar, to a seat-belt tether.
Fit tips
- Doesn't sit level? Tighten the front straps first. A rear seat with a steep cushion angle can stop the panels lying perfectly flat.
- Big or heavy dog? Tighten the headrest straps, make sure the front edge rests against the front seat backs, and use a seat-belt tether with a harness.
- Straps too short or headrests too far apart (common in trucks)? Email us your make and model before modifying anything.
- No rear grab handles for the side flaps? Let the flaps hang loose or tuck them in.
- Front seats: check they can still go back to your driving position with the platform in.
- Folding it away: unclip the straps, lift it out and fold it for storage. If it isn't clear, email us and we'll walk you through it.
Side airbags in the rear seats? Some vehicles have airbags built into the outer edge of the rear seat backs. Look for an "SRS Airbag" or "Airbag" tag on the seat, or check your owner's manual. If your rear seats have them, don't install this extender. Anything strapped over those seams can get in the way of the airbag. Care
Most mud, drool and hair wipes off the waterproof top with a damp cloth. The cover is removable for washing; follow the care label.
