Side airbags in the rear seats? Look for an "SRS Airbag" or "Airbag" tag on the outer edge of the seat back, or check your owner's manual. If your rear seats have them, don't use this extender.
Captain's chairs or bucket seats? It's made for a bench back seat. Over a gap between two chairs the board isn't supported in the middle, so we don't recommend it.
Child seat or passenger? Not while it's in: it turns the whole back seat into one deck for your dog. Unclip it and fold it away when you need the seats back.

- Width. Sit in the back. Measure across the seat at cushion height, from the inside of one rear door to the inside of the other.
- Gap. Measure from the front edge of the back seat to the back of the front seats, with the front seats where you drive. The platform's front edge should rest against the front seat backs.
- Pick by width and vehicle:
- 55.7 in or less → Standard (54 in).
- More than 55.7 in in a full-size crew cab → Wide (57.4 in). Standard is too small for full-size truck benches.
- More than 55.7 in in any other vehicle, under about 50 in, or over about 60 in → send us your make, model and year first.

Will it fit my vehicle?
We size by vehicle. Standard (54 in): for cars, SUVs and mid-size trucks. Wide (57.4 in): for full-size crew cabs — measure first. Standard is too small for full-size truck benches. Measure your back seat door to door at cushion height; the fit finder above walks you through it. If you're under about 50 in, over about 60 in, between sizes, or just unsure, email support@biglugco.com with your make, model and year and we'll check before you order.
My back seats have side airbags. Can I use it?
Some vehicles have airbags built into the outer edges of the rear seat backs. Look for an “SRS Airbag” or “Airbag” tag sewn into the seat, or check your owner's manual. If your rear seats have them, don't use this extender. Anything strapped over those seams can get in the way of the airbag. Not sure? Email us before ordering. If you find out after it arrives, the 30-day fit guarantee covers a full refund, and you don't need to send it back.
I have captain's chairs or bucket seats. Will it work?
It's made for a bench back seat. With two separate chairs and a gap between them, the board isn't supported in the middle, so we don't recommend it.
How long does it take to set up?
A few minutes, no tools. Loop the straps around the headrests, lay it flat over the footwell, then buckle and tighten. Step by step and fit tips: see the setup guide.
Will it work for a big dog?
It's made for big dogs to stretch out on, with a rigid board under the cover (honeycomb on Standard, plywood on Wide). We don't publish a weight rating. Pick your size by vehicle, tighten the headrest straps and make sure the front edge rests against the front seat backs. For travel, clip your dog's harness to a seat-belt tether. It's a comfort and seat-protection product, not a crash-tested restraint. If the board or a hook fails in normal use within 12 months, we replace it.
Will claws tear it or scratch my seats?
The top layer is heavy 600D Oxford fabric, and the side flaps cover the lower door panels. No fabric is claw-proof, though. Long nails will wear any cover over time, so keeping them trimmed helps. If a seam or zipper fails under normal use, contact us.
How do I clean it?
Most mud, drool and hair wipes off the waterproof top with a damp cloth. The cover is removable for washing; follow the care label.
Can a passenger or child seat still go in the back?
Not while it's in. It turns the whole back seat into one deck for your dog. Take any child seat out first. When you need the seats back, unclip it and fold it away.
